Howard Pheby talks to Data Centre Solutions.
35 years in the data center industry. From hyperscale to retail colocation. And now, leading commercial strategy at the UK’s fastest-growing urban data center platform.
Howard Pheby, Stellanor’s newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer, sat down with Data Centre Solutions to discuss what we’re building – and why it matters.
Some highlights
On rapid growth: “We’ve gone from two sites to ten in six months. It’s rapid, but it’s not growth for growth’s sake. It’s a very deliberate, focused set of activities – buying the right sites in the right place that can integrate into the wider business.”
On where we fit: “We sit between hyperscale and true edge. The cloud isn’t suitable for everybody. People want proximity, low latency, and with AI inference becoming more prevalent, they need access to infrastructure close to where real-world applications will be deployed.”
On proximity: “Proximity is critical, and it’s becoming more and more critical. As we deploy real-world applications, latency and operational access matter. If your data center is remote, it’s more difficult to change things operationally.”
On what’s next: “Urban enterprise data center demand is growing every day. The challenge is executing – buying the right sites, securing power in the right places, and integrating not just the real estate but the people who come with it.”
Howard brings three decades of experience across the full data center stack to Stellanor. His insight into what enterprises actually need – and how to deliver it at scale – is exactly what this platform is built on. Listen to the full conversation:
